2. il Santuario dei Mazzarelli | Mazzarelli Sanctuary

Il santuario, costruito con il contributo delle ex allieve di 57 nazioni in occasione del centenario dell’Istituto delle Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice, è consacrato nel 1972 da Monsignore Dell’Omo, vescovo di Acqui Terme. Si presenta in un unico blocco, luminoso e semplice nelle linee architettoniche. Il frontone del santuario è dominato dalla statua della Santa che accoglie i pellegrini. L’interno è anch’esso sobrio ed essenziale. Particolare attenzione merita il Tabernacolo, dietro il quale appare un quadro di Caffaro Rore che rappresenta la gloria di Maria Mazzarello, dipinto in cui la Santa, sorretta dagli angeli, si protende verso la Vergine. Sotto l’altare è conservata una reliquia di Maria. Accanto al santuario, sulla destra si erge il centro di spiritualità, realizzato negli anni ’60 e ’70 del 1900 che offre accoglienza agli esercizi spirituali.

The sanctuary, built with the help of contributions made by “Ex Allieve” (ex-students of Maria Ausiliatrice Daughters Association) representing 57 nations, on the occasion of the centenary of the Institute of the Daughters of Maria Ausiliatrice, was consecrated in 1972 by Monsignor Dell’Omo, bishop from Acqui Terme. It is presented in the form of one building, luminous and simple in its architectural lines. The pediment of the sanctuary is dominated by the statue of the Saint who welcomes the pilgrims. The interior is also sober and simple. Special attention needs to be given to the Tabernacle, behind which can be seen the picture by Caffaro Rore which represents the glory of Maria Mazzarello, where the Saint is painted as being supported by angels, stretching out to the Virgin Mary. Under the altar is a preserved relic of Maria.  To the right of the sanctuary is the spiritual centre, constructed during the 1960s and 1970s, which provides a place for spiritual practices.
